It is with great pleasure, that we announce the election of Arc Ikechukwu Agbim, AIA, NCARB as the Board Chairman of AFGCEAA. Voting was carried out during a board meeting, the week of 8/22/2014; and was presided over by Nnaemeka Osakwe (President, AFGCEAA).
About Ike Agbim
Arc Ike Agbim attended FGCE from 1978-1983, and belonged to Independence House. During his years in FGCE, he was a member of Debating Society and Drama Club, and eventually appointed Labor Prefect.
After O-Levels at FGCE, he studied Architecture at University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) from 1983-1987, graduating with a 2-1 (Second Class Upper). He moved to the USA in 1987, and furthered his studies in Architecture as follows: City University of New York (B. Arch – 1989), Virginia Tech (M. Arch – 1991). He has since worked for different consulting firms in Architecture and Construction in the DC Area. He is a Registered Architect and holds professional membership in the American Institute of Architecture, and National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB). He currently works as a Consulting Architect and Infill House Developer in the D.C. Metro area.
Ike Agbim is also very involved in his church and local community. He is a Knight of St. Colombus (KSc.) and was National President of the Nimo Town Union (NBS Americas) from 2010-2014.
He is married to Mrs. Nkem Agbim, and they have 6 children.
As Chairman of the Board, he is committed to AFGCEAA’s mission and success and is able to think strategically, focusing on core issues. He is also an able spokesperson for the Board, works collaboratively with the Board Members and Executive Council, identifies and takes advantage of individual strengths of Board Members. He is diplomatic and is able to serve as a mediator; whilst being organized skilled at mediating.
